The Power of I AM Statements

The Power of I AM Statements

If you were to write down every thought you have specifically about yourself, what would appear on the page? How much of it would be positive, and how much would be negative? We constantly engage in self-talk, and often, it is not uplifting. Negative thoughts like, “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not lovable,” “I’m not capable,” and “I’m not worthy” can take hold. Unfortunately, if you dwell on these thoughts long enough, they can become a truth that you internalize and begin to live out.

Awareness is essential in combating the constant stream of negative thoughts. We must intentionally put our thoughts "on notice" and become more aware of them. Often, we allow these thoughts to linger in our minds without questioning their validity. It is crucial to actively choose NOT to dwell on negative thoughts; the longer we hold on to them, the stronger they become.

Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Once we become aware of our negative thoughts, we must replace them with their positive equivalents—thoughts that truly reflect who we are. It is crucial not only to dismiss the negative thought but also to actively substitute it with a positive one immediately!  Do not give negative thoughts any time! Some people believe that simply saying "no" to a negative thought is sufficient, but that is not enough. It is essential to transform it into its positive counterpart.

How to Create Your Own I AM Statements:

When creating your statements, try looking in the mirror or sitting quietly and saying or thinking, “I am ____________,” then see what comes to mind.

If something negative arises, write it down, cross it out, and replace it with the opposite statement. For example, if you think, “I am unlovable” (which is a lie), replace it with “I am lovable” (the truth).

Write your statements down every day to unlock their power in your life! If you can say them out loud, please do so, as they feel even more powerful and truthful when spoken. The more consistent you are in doing this practice, the more you will benefit from it. I can’t stress that enough!  Additionally, consider placing your statements somewhere visible to you daily. If it helps, stickers and other merchandise are available in my shop to remind you of all the wonderful things about yourself.
